Adblocker-test 2026: de grote vergelijking

Which ad blocker blocks the most? We measured the most widely used extensions with an external test, all of them free. Here are the results, the procedure and how to repeat it.

The measuring tool

We measure with an external, publicly available test. It calls real advertising, analytics and tracking services and counts how many get through. We select nothing — which services are checked is up to the operator of that site.

Why AdSilence reaches the full score

Not because our lists are better — they are largely the same ones everybody uses. The difference is how many of them are switched on after installation.

Factory settings and fully equipped

The extra lists cost nothing in any of these extensions — it is a checkbox, not a purchase. The right-hand column shows what happens when you enable every list the platform allows.

Repeat it yourself

The simplest way: install an extension, open the test and look at the score. That is exactly what we do.

The procedure

  1. A fresh browser, no profile, no history. A separate one for each extension — two blockers in the same profile would mix their rules.
  2. The extension is installed and, where needed, its welcome screen is clicked through. Some block nothing until you agree.
  3. A warm-up round checks whether anything is blocked at all. If nothing is, there is no score but a note — an extension that was never switched on is not a result.
  4. Then the test, several times. We state the median, not the best run.
